Hooking up old tattoos is an art form in itself. Adding stuff onto and having it all makes sense is no easy task, but when done right, should look like it was part of the original design. Body design, anatomy, kinesiology… I constantly study all these unspoken aspects of tattooing because they are what helps make a tattoo very successful. With this one, the hummingbird and butterfly were there originally. I was asked to enhance them and add the hibiscus flower as well. Not easy, by no means, but I did have a lot of fun while doing it. Session 2, add more shading then begin the color addition.
This was created with a 5 supertight liner, a 17 bugpin magnum, and intenze zuper black ink.
